finishing the skeg and spray rails

OK, I’m nearly done with the skeg and spray rails. Here’s the skeg, I like its looks

Here’s a view along the spray rail. You can see that it has been faired so as to match the bottom of the hull. This fairing was done from roughly midships to the transom:

And here’s a view of the bow showing both the skeg and the spray rails:

I really like how well this area came out. Mike’s patience paid off getting the rails joined at the bow. Now I have to fill the screw holes, smooth everything and paint!

Mike and I screwed the skeg down to the hull and into the keel. It wasn’t as troublesome as feared – although it is disconcerting to drill holes in that hard won hull! The skeg needs final fairing and then we’ll paint the hull.

Today Mike and I worked to get the spray rails attached to the hull along the chines. It took some friggin’ but we got it done. Here’s a picture (not a very good one)

We’re going to tackle the skeg tomorrow!
