The windshield was installed over the weekend but I wasn’t able to convince my brother – who was visiting for the weekend – to come out with me for a spin on the lake… he felt the environment wasn’t ideal for boating…

Anyway, here she is with the windshield installed.

I think it looks pretty good. I’m looking forward to seeing how well my handiwork cuts the wind while running at a good clip…

So, now I think I’m going to leave the Danga until Spring (well, I need to install and isolation switch between the motor and the battery first). I need to practice my welding skills so that’s what I plan to do most of this winter…

The last bit of construction for this Fall is the windscreen. After searching around I finally found a set of windshield brackets on eBay (if you are looking for something along this lines I recommend Maine Classics [207-247-6862] for a large collection of classic marine hardware. I would have bought their brackets had I not won this auction!):
Here’s my progress on creating a template for the windscreen. I anchored the center bracket and then went to work shaping the templates to the deck. Here’s looking from aside the cockpit foward.
The first pass (just prior to this shape) looked too rectangular – having the windshield the same height off the deck from center to the gunwhale, so I went to work creating a fair curved shape. Here’s what I think looks classic and yet not too boxy:
